Where do our tithes and offerings go?

Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it…” As followers of Jesus, we must remember that when it comes to money, everything belongs to the Lord.

There are two primary areas to give money for God’s work:

Local New Story Community Budget

Everything we do at the local church (beyond the pastors’ salaries) is funded through the local church budget. This covers our facilities, our various ministeries, our worship leader, and anything else that we might do as a church family.  Our fiscal year runs January 1 – December 31, and all records are open for review.

Tithe is defined as 10 percent of a person’s annual income. Tithing is different than giving; we believe that tithing is simply returning to God what is His. Malachi 3 says that to keep our tithe would be like robbing God. All of our tithe is sent to the Georgia-Cumberland Conference, where it goes toward paying our pastors, as well as funding various ministeries of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.
